A couple weeks ago I ran sound for the teaser video for comedian Colin Kane’s “Somebody Sitting Here?”, an upcoming web-series where, each episode, he visits the same park bench and harasses whoever is unfortunate enough to be sitting there. The kind of comedy you hate to love.
For the shoot I relied almost solely on wireless lavaliere mics (the kind us sound-guys hide on people’s bodies) primarily because each take was improvised. I always prefer booming over wireless mics when I have the choice (I’m sure any sound-guy out there will agree) but in this case I was especially happy to go wireless because I boom terribly when I have to constantly hold in laughter(!) That mic would’ve flown into the shot (if not their faces!) enough to get me fired.
And I was happy with the sound I got — very little radio frequency interference (which is terribly common for New York) and minimal clothing noise (thanks in part to simple wardrobe.)
Stay tuned for more tasteless, irreverent comedy from the insult-master Colin Kane.
